Metronome Inc. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Koichi Wagatsuma), operator of Japan’s largest rental (subscription) service for training equipment, fitness gear, sauna, and rehabilitation equipment — GYM CLOUD (https://gymcloud.jp/) — and the country’s largest rental (subscription) service for indoor sauna units, barrel saunas, sauna stoves, and stone spa equipment — SAUNA CLOUD — is pleased to announce its participation as a partner company in the SOCIAL INNOVATION WEEK 2023.

About SOCIAL INNOVATION WEEK 2023

Organized by the Shibuya Mirai Design association, the “SOCIAL INNOVATION WEEK 2023” will be held from Monday, November 6 to Sunday, November 12, 2023.

This year’s tagline is “YOU MAKE”, emphasizing that all participants — including Shibuya City, partner companies, students, and more — are creators. The event aims to gather diverse ideas and perspectives, foster exchange, and transform them into tangible outcomes. Based on the theme of diversity, programs are structured around five key areas: Shibuya, Culture, Global, Sustainability, and Women.

Centered at Hikarie Hall, the event will be held in a hybrid format, both offline and online, featuring talk sessions, workshops, hands-on experiences, exhibitions, and networking opportunities throughout the week.

The opening session will welcome Shibuya City Mayor Ken Hasebe and former professional tennis player Kimiko Date to discuss the theme of “Creating a City Where the Next Generation Thrives” and explore how to shape Shibuya’s future. This year will also feature a variety of workshops — including student-led and diversity-focused programs — held in open spaces so that even non-participants can feel the energy of the discussions.

We look forward to seeing new projects emerge from SIW that will contribute to building a better society.

At the conference, Seiichi Saito, Director of Panoramatiks; Shin Nakajima of Tokyo City University; Sae Sugiura, Deputy Mayor of Shibuya City; and Yoichiro Sakai of the Shibuya Development Division, Tokyu Corporation, will take the stage. Based on the interim report of the “Shibuya Plan 2040 Area Vision Committee,” they will hold a public discussion to explore ways to further enhance Shibuya’s international recognition and appeal, and to share its vision for the future.

This year will see an expanded version of the highly acclaimed student collaboration programs from last year, including an idea conference by 25 SIW Student Ambassadors, presentations by students from Professor Oe’s seminar at Josai International University, and projects from Bunka Fashion College students. These initiatives will showcase future-oriented, socially conscious ideas based on the perspectives and experiences of the next generation.

In the Experience Program, there will be a special yoga session led by ambassadors of the activewear brand DANSKIN, as well as a beach flag trial session and pre-tournament at Miyashita Park in Shibuya. Additionally, a session will be held to discuss sustainability and how to create value from the loss of visually appealing products such as cosmetics and flowers. The event truly offers a rich lineup of programs co-created by the public, private, academic, and civic sectors.

Through the programs at SIW, we look forward to the birth of new projects that will help create a better society.

Our company will be presenting at “SOCIAL INNOVATION WEEK 2023” on November 10, 2023, to announce a new business initiative.
